Economics

Economics impacts every aspect of our lives, from major government decisions on taxes, healthcare, and environmental policies to everyday choices like price changes and wage determination. Our A-Level Economics curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and provide students with a deep understanding of the economic forces shaping our world. By learning key principles, students will develop critical thinking skills to analyse and respond to local and global economic challenges.

Our aim is to develop strong economists, thinkers, and communicators. The curriculum covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics, including topics such as market behaviour, government intervention, international trade, and economic growth. We equip students with the knowledge to understand how economic decisions impact society and empower them to apply this understanding to real-world contexts.

Beyond the exams, we enrich learning through national competitions, business simulations, and debates. Students will also explore global issues like poverty and inequality, broadening their perspective by engaging with key economic texts, current media, and discussions on contemporary challenges. This approach nurtures independent thinking and helps students build the confidence to express their ideas.

Our ultimate goal is to not only ensure strong exam performance but to prepare students for further study and careers in fields such as finance, policy-making, and global development. We aim to cultivate informed, adaptable economists who can make meaningful contributions to society.

We follow the Edexcel specification, with assessment through three written exams at the end of the second year.
