KS5 Computer Science Curriculum Model

“There is no recipe, there is no one way to do things — there is only your way.” - Ara Katz

The KS5 curriculum model in Computer Science builds on prior knowledge at KS4 revisiting some previous topics to deepen the girl’s understanding and knowledge. The KS5 curriculum is based on the A Level OCR Computer Science Specification. It would be expected that students who take A Level Computer Science have completed Computer Science at a GCSE Level.

The girls who take Computer Science at A Level will be expected to complete two exam papers in the summer of Year 13 and a NEA piece of Coursework.

The two papers are:

H446/01- Computer Systems

H446/02- Algorithms and Programming.

The NEA Piece of Coursework will be a Programming project which the students will start in the April of Year 12 and will complete independently until the April of Year 13. The NEA course is worth 20% of their overall grade.
